If your loudspeakers live there are placed on some sort of hard flooring surface, then these IsoAcoustics Gaia II isolators may be a worthwhile tweak so that you get your speakers to put their best foot forward.
IsoAcoustics offers three different sizes of Gaia isolation feet based on the weight of the speaker or subwoofer to be supported. The Gaia II is designed to support a loudspeaker of up to 121 pounds per set of four feet.
Each foot comes with a proprietary compound of a particular durometer (hardness) that builds in contact with the floor. The contact face is designed like a suction cup, firmly fixing itself and the connected loudspeaker to the floor. The top part of this material builds a connection to a subassembly within the Isoacoustics Gaia II designed to effectively manage the speaker’s energy. The isolators are less compliant in all off-axis directions and it suppresses any cabinet oscillations altogether. According to IsoAcoustics, focusing on the speaker’s energies in this manner while isolating others can improve the clarity, focus, and openness of the resulting sound.
A Significant Aspect of the Speaker Stand Design is the capability to adjust the height and tilt angle of the supported speaker enclosure in order to optimize its position relative to the listener and eliminate the soundwave reflections off the supporting surface. In a typical Desktop Audio Workstation (DAW) configuration, the listener is placed 3 to 4 feet from the monitors with an ear level approximately 20″ above the surface of the work. Raising and tilting the monitors to the optimum position is easy to achieve in these circumstances using the IsoAcoustics stands.
